Suffolk Community College Opens Its Doors Nov. 8

Anyone weighing a return to school has a chance to walk the halls in person this fall. Suffolk County Community College is opening up all its locations on Sunday, November 8, from noon to 2pm, including the Ammerman site in Selden, the Grant campus over in Brentwood, the Eastern campus in Riverhead, and the Culinary Arts Center there too.

Staff and current students will be on hand to talk through degree paths, certificate options, and everyday life on campus. Admissions folks will walk visitors through how to apply, and financial aid staff will cover the recent FAFSA updates along with grants, loans and scholarships. There is also information for adults looking into SUNY Reconnect, which can cover tuition and supplies for New Yorkers between 25 and 55 who want an associate degree in a field that is hiring. Veterans can sit down with campus reps about transition support too. Folks planning to come are asked to RSVP ahead of time, a detail worth noting from the original piece on DailyVoice.com.

A day like this tends to draw families from all over the island, including plenty from right here in Smithtown. If you are curious how towns nearby stack up for commuting to any of these campuses, the /towns/ guide is worth a look.
